Tonight, Martha Davis appears once again on Revenge of the 80s Radio. We will talk about her new children’s album: Red Frog Presents: 16 Songs for Parents and Children. Our discussion leads off the second hour of the show.
Martha Davis has been incredibly busy over the past few years, and 2010 looks like a big one for the former Motels singer. Earlier this year, she released the single, “Mr. Grey,” which seems to be something of a teaser for her many upcoming projects, which include a country CD, an interesting internet biz venture, a concert tour and an interesting podcast project (about which we will post at a later date).
Martha and I will discuss Red Frog, which introduces youngsters to various styles of music from jazz to classical to tango to march to rock rhythms while remaining enjoyable to adults. The characters come directly from Davis’ imagination, yet can inspire wonder in children as they listen. I will also get her thoughts on childrens’ entertainment over the past few decades and the importance of music education both in school and at home.
Also during the show, we will play new music by Kate Garner and Louise Robey as well as classic-alternative tracks from artists including Strawberry Switchblade, Berlin, The Jim Carroll Band and Kate Bush.
