Kevin Stanton, Mi-Sex co-founder, passes away at 61

Rest In Peace, Kevin Stanton of Mi-Sex.
Kevin Stanton passed on at the young age of 61 after spending much of his life battling severe cervical spondylosis, which kept him from playing guitar again. He founded Mi-Sex in New Zealand, which had evolved into one of the most internationally successful bands from the nation while, along the way, challenging a 40 percent record tax and a policy of cultural stuffiness implemented by then-Prime Minister Rob Muldoon
Even after his diagnosis, Stanton still recorded music in his studio and created several superb remixes of Mi-Sex classics, many of which we play here on Revenge of the 80s Radio. He also designed clothing under the company name “Rock Attire†– which also raised money for a potential operation
I had the pleasure of interviewing Kevin Stanton on the Revenge of the 80s Radio in recent years; he struck me as a nice fellow and one determined to overcome the limitations his spinal disease forced upon him. The music world has lost an innovator and and a superbly creative musical mind.
Revenge of the 80s Radio will air a musical tribute to Kevin Stanton during its Week of 5/19-25 show.
