Myanmar Update from Annabella Lwin
Written by admin on November 17, 2008
Many of you may already know that Annabella Lwin has been extremely active in raising both money and awareness for relief and rebuilding efforts in her birthplace of Yangoon, Myanmar, Burma, where the people there are still recovering from the devastation Cyclone Nargis wrought on May 2nd. In a past Revenge of the 80s Radio interview with Lwin, she discussed her plans to put together a benefit CD and concert for the people of Myanmar. While relief workers and donations have helped solidify local rebuilding in Yangoon and the surrounding regions as well as they could under tough circumstances, reports out of Burma reveal the overall situation to be cause for worldwide alarm.
Recently, Annabella posted two videos on her MySpace blog alleging the Burmese Government under General Thain Shwe is still torturing and murdering thousands of people, including several Buddhist Monks. Because of Lwin’s hard work to help the people in Myanmar, I thought these videos should receive some space here on the Revenge of the 80s Radio site:
Burma report on France24 TV worldwide
Exclusive:An urgent plea from International Burmese Monks Org.
As far as helping with Cyclone Nargis relief efforts there, you can still donate to groups working in Myanmar. There are several links (suggested and approved by Annabella Lwin) on this page of the Revenge of the 80s Radio site. For more information on the benefit EP, go to Annabella’s website or MySpace page.
