Power-Pop-A-Licious II Fest lineup set:
Written by admin on September 27, 2012
Thirteen bands from across the U.S. and Canada will play at the second annual Power Pop-A-Licious Fest at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The power pop celebration takes place on November 16th and 17th.
Curated by Paul Collins (The Beat, The Nerves, The Breakaways), the bill features top power-pop bands picked by one of the genre’s inventors. Collins built the event as a “unifying rally cry for the thriving rock-n-roll subculture, and is a means for power pop fans of all ages to discover a wealth of talented new acts in one power-packed weekend.â€
Collins explains the concept behind this year’s festival:
“I wanted to keep the spirit of last year’s fest going, it was going to be a challenge to come up with a whole new bunch of bands that I personally believed in and that I thought meant something…I think in the end we were able to do that, all these bands, in my opinion, are serious about what they are doing, they are all out there trying to make something happen, I am proud to be able to help them achieve that goal.â€
Collins is scheduled to appear on a future Revenge of the 80s Radio show to talk about Power Pop-A-Licious II and its lineup.
Performers include New Jersey power-pop heroes The Modulators, The Disconnects and Lieder as featured acts span the continent from as far west as Portland Oregon (Blue Skies for Black Hearts) and as far north as Montreal (Kid Sentiment). Mixed in with the bands will be music from popular DJs Tony Lo-Fi (One Chord Progression) and Jenni Ladd (The Leopard Print Lounge)
Tickets for the fest are $15 and will be available to purchase online through TicketWeb
