Legendary new wavers the Psychedelic Furs recently announced they will be teaming up with Happy Mondays on a North American tour this fall. Furs lead singer Richard Butler has also been fueling the flames of scuttlebutt about a new album from the band in the near future.

The Psychedelic Furs’ mainstream popularity came from their movie soundtrack songs like “Pretty In Pink” and “Love My Way,” but were mainstays on the college charts alongside bands like The Cure and The Smiths.
According to the Furs’ official website, the tour will kick off on September 8th in Chicago and end in Montreal on October 15th. New York City fans can catch them at the Roseland Ballroom on October 9th.
If this new album comes to pass, the question will be whether they release classic-style music for the hard-core fans a la Depeche Mode or take the route ABC did with 2008’s Traffic. This prospective album would be the Psychedelic Furs’ first new offering since 2001’s Beautiful Chaos, which was a live album.
