The Regeneration Tour 2009 Lineup
Written by admin on January 15, 2009
After last year’s Regeneration Tour, we took a poll as to who you would like to see in the coming year’s concert series. According to the official Regeneration Tour website, some of you will get your wish.
Berlin came in first among those polled, and Terri Nunn is scheduled to perform on select dates with a new lineup. ABC will be back as well. Rounding out the tour (so far) will be Wang Chung, Go West and Heaven 17 (not the one Ivan Doroschuk was in before forming Men Without Hats; these are the British guys). While locations have not been officially announced, Regeneration Tour 2009 is scheduled to run between June 17 and July 16.
In our Revenge of the 80s Radio poll, Berlin was the top choice followed by Wall of Voodoo, Alphaville, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark and Missing Persons.
There are some interesting stories to this year’s Regeneration Tour: this is the first year after Martin Fry and ABC first introduced their latest CD, Traffic, which was their first new album in decades. Also, while the Human League was featured in Regeneration Tour 2008, the other side of that band’s historic early 80s split that saw both bands flourish as separate entities, Heaven 17, is one of the acts for the 2009 trip.
Last year’s lineup showcased Naked Eyes, A Flock of Seagulls, Belinda Carlisle, ABC and the Human League. Missing Persons, The Romantics and 10,000 Maniacs also took part on some of the tour dates. Other participants (if any) for the 2009 tour have not been officially announced.
